Steven Brust

The Drageaeran Novels
Set on Dragaera, a world inhabited by two races, and humans are not the "superior" one. Follows the exploits of Vlad Taltos, an accomplished human assassin.
The Khaavren Romances
As faithfully reported by Sir Paarfi of Roundwood (House of the Hawk). Told in the style of a Dumas story, they capture the wit and joy of storytelling as only a swashbuckling novel can.
Others
I have not yet found one of Mr. Brust's books that I did not fully enjoy reading, and I don't hesitate to suggest buying a book just on the force of him being the author.

Spider Robinson

The Callahan stories
If you have not yet met Mike Callahan and Lady Sally, well, there is one thing going good for you, you still can. If you miss the chance, who knows when you'll get another.
Others
If you didn't get enough puns from those, these might help.

John DeChancie

The Castle Novels
Imagine, if you could, a castle with 144,000 portals to other worlds, each one holding fun and adventure. Mr. DeChancie can, and has been. He does not have all 144,000 explored yet, all the better for the rest of us, as we wait for reports back from them.
The Skyway Trilogy
Ramble down the road that connects planets spread across the Universe, trying to find it's source.
Others
Mr. DeChancie's humor and wit takes a broad turn in a few of these, and he even has a serious, dark even, straight SF book here.

Pamela Dean

Works
Wonderfully literate and enjoyable reading. Just be sure that you are up to speed on everything ever written, as you never know where Ms. Dean will call from.
